A REVIEW ON “BHAKTHI VANDANA” - BY SHREEHARSHA K S

BHAKTHI VANDANA is yet another wonderful devotional album directed by Chinmaya M Rao. This album is produced by Mrs. Saraswathi Bangalore who ventured to popularize the lyrics of her father - a senior poet, scholar N. N. Madhyastha - into audio CD/cassettes. N.N. Madhyastha is a multi lingual scholar (Kannada, Hindi and Sanskrit), retired teacher by profession. He actively served and contributed in activities of Rashtrothana Parishat. Lyrics of one song out of seven are written by music director, Chinmaya himself. Meaningful literature, rhymes and rhythm, music, orchestration, melodious singing and chorus all included makes this a beautiful artistic piece. Lahari Audio Company, a pioneer in this industry has identified and leading the marketing of this marvellous product.

The first song is having a rare figure of speech with second letter rhyme (dviteeyaakshara praasa) and is laden with momentous spiritual names of lord Ganapati. Song rendition by SP Balasubramanyam is superb. “This was a great cherishable moment in my life ..” says Chinmaya, “.. which gave me the first chance to work with a great singer SPB. SPB is a down to earth person. Although a great singer, never showed any arrogance, rather than respected a junior music director like me too”.

The second song Omkaara Roopaaya Gangaadharaaya has come up in the melodious and sensational voice of MD Pallavi. The background music should have been more powerful to bring the devout effect. The next song Rama Raghava is having an enchanting stating music and rhythm. Puttur Narasimha Nayak has sung this with his class devotional style. Baala Krishna Kaalingana is a folk style song which visualizes Krishana’s childhood. Its music and lyrics is best suitable for daandiya dance as well. Vasudha Sharma, a Hindustani Musician from Sagar, is introduced to the field of audio albums through this song.

Shaarade.. is the beautiful composition in the album as if a diamond in a crown. The Goddess of knowledge, Shaarada is prayed by a music lover here to bestow drop of knowledge from the ocean of knowledge she has. Devotee is worshipping the Goddess in temple of musical notes (Svaras) and musical notes itself as the flowers. After hard work and sublime devotion, devotee in exasperation, surrenders to Goddess and begs for knowledge. The piety of the song is composed in a beautiful lul music and rendered passionately by MD Pallavi. Veena, Saxophone, Saarangi are wisely used and enhance the glory of the song.

The next song is Narayana stuti, again begins with a punching music and devotion super flown by singer. The last song starts with a blowing of conch and Rudra mantra chanting, followed by a fusion of music. Divinity covers up the mind and song is rendered stupendously, vigorously by Chinmaya.
Bhakthi Vandana is a gratitude and curtsy - by a daughter to her father and by a musician to music. No doubt that God and people will definitely bless these people and album.
